Thank You Congressman John “Judge” Carter!

Thank you, Congressman!

The Exotic Wildlife Association would like to take this opportunity to thank Congressman John “Judge” Carter (R-TX31) Round Rock, Texas for his overwhelming and continued support of the plight of the “The Three Species”.

Congressman Carter has successfully presented an amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill that will place the Scimitar Horned Oryx, Dama Gazelle, and Addax Antelope back to the exempt status from the Endangered Species Act they enjoyed from September 2005 until the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) placed them back under the restrictions of the ESA in April 2012.

Congressman Carter has publicly stated that  “these three African Antelope are certainly endangered in their native land but because of the conservation efforts of U.S. ranchers are anything but endangered in this country and have flourished because of private ownership without the onerous restrictions of the ESA.” Congressman Carter further states that “by once again removing these restrictions through the successful passage of this amendment, we will certainly insure the future of these animals for generations to come”.

The EWA would also like to thank Dallas Safari Club, the National Rifle Association and the Congressional Sportsman’s Foundation who worked side by side with our association to assure the success of this amendment.
