Livestock Theft

Please read the following theft of livestock alert occurring in Longville, Louisiana.  This is the first ranch in Louisiana that we are aware of that has had a theft occur but is the third ranch in the last two months belonging to EWA members.  The other ranches were located in the Harper, Texas.  We have also have had a report of missing livestock in the Harper area on a third ranch owned by an EWA member and he does believe they were taken from the ranch within the last two weeks.

The theft in Longville, Louisiana, which is in the Beauregard Parish, occurred on December 7 and according to the owner, Mike Demarie, two fallow bucks, (1 white and 1 spotted) were taken. Two more of the Demarie’s fallow had portions of a capture net still wrapped around their antlers but apparently had managed to escape their captors.

Should anyone have information on this theft please contact the EWA office, the Department of Agriculture, Wildlife/Fisheries or the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s office to make a report.  Also should anyone have information on the earlier thefts in the Harper, Texas area please contact the EWA office.
