The Texas Animal Health Commission, working with Commissioner Tommy Oates, conducted the very first layperson certification course for CWD sampling on Thursday, July 10 in Huntsville, Texas. This is an effort on the part of the Texas Animal Health Commission and Commissioner Oates to train and certify ranchers and producers in the collection of both the Obex (brain stem) and Retropharyngeal Lymph nodes for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) sampling. This class filled up very quickly in Huntsville. As a result, a 2nd class will be held onSeptember 4th, 2014beginning at10:00 a.m.at the Exotic Wildlife Association office in Ingram, TX.
