The Exotic Wildlife Association is once again facing an extremely important battle to remove the restrictions of the Endangered Species Act from the three species (Scimitar Horned Oryx, Dama Gazelle, and Addax). The amendment introduced by Congressman John (Judge) Carter (R) of Round Rock, Texas which would place the three species back to the status given to them in September 2005 has passed out of Committee in the House of Representatives by a unanimous voice vote and will be heard sometime this fall as Congress takes up various appropriations bills. There is also support from our two Texas Senators to help the EWA in the Senate with this amendment as well.
Once again the Humane Society of the United States and the Friends of Animals are committed to fight this amendment and to keep the three species listed as endangered despite the major conservation efforts and successes of private ranchers.
Our lobbying and legislative efforts take a tremendous amount of your association’s resources and by making this fundraiser a major success will allow the EWA to continue its fight. Please join us in an effort to raise the much needed revenue and protect our member’s way of life.
