Political Change is coming to some states

Powerful supermajorities elected to statehouses

By David A. Lieb
There could end up being sharp differences in how people live and work in different states.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — There’s a new superpower growing in the Great Plains and the South, where bulging Republican majorities in state capitols could dramatically cut taxes and change public education with barely a whimper of resistance from Democrats.

Contrast that with California, where voters have given Democrats a new dominance that could allow them to raise taxes and embrace same-sex marriage without regard to Republican objections.

If you thought the presidential election revealed the nation’s political rifts, consider the outcomes in state legislatures. The vote also created a broader tier of powerful one-party governments that can act with no need for compromise. [Read More]

The petitions for secession from the U.S. filed by Texas, Louisiana, and five other states have collected more than 25,000 signatures each, which the White House website says is enough for review and response.

Even though voters have given their stamp of approval for a second Obama term, he could have a hard time translating that into a mandate to push forward with his agenda.

WASHINGTON – Fresh from a decisive re-election win, President Barack Obama returns from the campaign trail on Wednesday with little time to savor victory, facing urgent economic and fiscal challenges and a still-divided Congress capable of blocking his every move.

Obama defeated Republican challenger Mitt Romney on Tuesday night after a grueling presidential race and used his acceptance speech in front of a huge cheering crowd in Chicago to strike a conciliatory note toward his political opponents. [Read More]

Hillary Clinton announces plans for US to join a massive global gun control scheme.

Dear fellow American,

Gun-grabbers around the globe believe they have it made.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently announced the Obama Administration will be working hand-in-glove with the UN to pass a new “Small Arms Treaty.”

Disguised as an “International Arms Control Treaty” to fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the UN’s Small Arms Treaty is in fact a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme.

If passed by the UN and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the UN “Small Arms Treaty” would almost certainly FORCE the United States to:

*** Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding Americans cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;

*** CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL “unauthorized” civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course); [Read More]

Tom Selleck Attacked for His Views on Gun Control

Rosie O’Donnell Anti Gun Rhetoric Really Makes Me Upset. Furious

Bill Maher Talks About Gun Control – This is why the NRA is so important !!!

These far left liberals really don’t have a clue about the 2nd Amend and the importance of this issue as how it protects us from Government. Ultimately that is why we have it and to involve hunting in the debate and then pick on Texas just shows how dangerous their views and lack of knowledge surrounding conservation really is.

For President Barack Obama and rival Mitt Romney the end of a long campaign comes down to numbers: Miles covered, crowds gathered, ads broadcast. The biggest number of all is the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Three days. Nine states — give or take. A magic 270 electoral votes. For President Barack Obama and rival Mitt Romney, the final touch-and-go stretch of campaigning is down to the numbers.

New hiring reports or a new jobless rate. Spending totals or early vote totals. Percentage points and rhetorical points. Frequency of stops or size of crowds. In a game of metrics, each camp is looking for that last measure that will separate them at the finish line.

After holding mostly small and mid-size rallies for much of the campaign, Obama’s team is planning a series of larger events this weekend aimed at drawing big crowds in battleground states. Still, the campaign isn’t expecting to draw the massive audiences Obama had in the closing days of the 2008 race, when his rallies drew more than 50,000. [Read More]

The Vice President has been campaigning in Florida while President Obama deals with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

SARASOTA, Fla. – For his political opponents, Vice President Joe Biden might have been playing a trick, but for some of his ardent supporters, he could have been dispensing a special treat on Halloween: mentioning on Wednesday a possible run for president in 2016.

After a rally in Sarasota, Biden swung by Station 400, a train station-turned-restaurant filled with many who had cast their votes already for him and President Obama. [Read More]

The mayor backed President Barack Obama for re-election, saying the incumbent Democrat will bring leadership that is critically needed to fight climate change after the East Coast devastation wrought by Superstorm Sandy.

WASHINGTON — The endorsement from the politically independent and popular third-term mayor was a major boost for Obama, who is spending the campaign’s final days trying to win over independent voters whose voices will be critical in determining who wins Tuesday’s election. [Read More]
