President Donald Trump‘s Thanksgiving trip to his private Mar-a-Lago resort has some Floridians reportedly struggling to find their holiday spirit.
The Palm Beach Post reports that local residents are “anxious to learn” whether the president will travel the roughly two-mile stretch between the Palm Beach International Airport and his seaside resort by helicopter or motorcade. The presidential helicopter, Marine One, was reportedly delivered to the airport Sunday afternoon, but that doesn’t mean the president will use it to fly back and forth. Instead, Trump could opt to use his black armored vehicle, much to the consternation of some locals.
Earlier this year, Trump’s motorcade halted traffic for hours after law enforcement closed nearby roads for the procession, according to the Post.
The Secret Service provides limited notice of the president’s travel plans, but Trump is expected to arrive in Palm Beach on Tuesday and leave Sunday. Regardless of how Trump chooses to travel, the county’s public transportation system is already warning riders of possible delays and detours in the area.
During the Thanksgiving Holiday President Trump will be vacationing in Palm Beach County. This could possibly impact Palm Tran with delays and detours for both fixed-route bus service and paratransit Connection service.
Trump also spent last Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago as president-elect, but his upcoming trip will mark his first visit of the 2017-2018 winter season. The president has draw criticism in the past for his frequent and costly weekend trips to his Florida resort.
